Self-catering
Accommodation
For those who prefer, there is also a very comfortable self-catering
cottage incorporating a spacious living, dining and kitchen area
complete with a wood burning stove, television and DVD facilities
and there is a bathroom and double bedroom. It is also possible
to increase the cottage accommodation by making available a further
two double bedrooms en-suite. This enables family or group holidays
to be mixed with stalking or any of the many country pursuits available.
The cost for the self catering cottage for one week with one double
bedroom is £590.00, there are a further two spacious double
rooms available at an additional £120.00 per room. The double
beds in the extra rooms can be easily converted into two single
beds at the guests prior request at the time of booking. Both of
these rooms have television and DVD facilities.
Depending on availability and time of year it is often possible
to stay in the cottage for a 3 night self-catering break or if guest's
prefer they are welcome to stay on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis
where meals are served with Jon and Andrea in their dining room
overlooking stunning views of Greenlee lough (Northumbrian name
for lake, pronounced 'luff' or 'loff') and beyond to Hadrians Wall
and the Pennine hills.
Other Activities to Enjoy
A variety of fishing is available around the area. We are also
fortunate to have one of the best salmon rivers in England close
by and given notice, we can book rods by the day.
There are a number
of excellent estates in the area where sporting Game bird shooting can
be obtained. The species available when in season are grouse, pheasant,
partridge, woodcock, duck and geese. It is important to save disappointment
that we get advance notice to be able to book these activities for
guests, the season runs from August 12th through to the end of January
depending on species. Prices can be confirmed by request at the
time of booking.
As well as the various country sports activities available, we are
of course situated in the Northumberland National Park, at the heart
of Hadrians Wall country, where the walking, cycling and historical
sight seeing is stunning and varied. Horse trekking can also be
booked in advance. The Pennine Way is less than a mile away. There
are also a number of beautiful National Trust properties to visit
nearby.
